About Hot-linking Content

By default, our site (allacrost.org) disables hot-linking. This means that if you try to directly link to or embed images, etcn in a forum on another site, the images will not display unless that site's domain name has been added to a white list that says which sites are allowed to hotlink from allacrost.org. If you are posting a recruitment thread somewhere and want to hotlink to content that is stored somewhere on allacrost.org, you must ask a team leader for permission for the site to be added to this list.

The following web domains are currently on the hot-link allowance list:

Recruitment Post Templates

Below are templates to make it easier and more expedient to create a new recruitment thread. Choose the template post that best fits the particular medium where it will be created, being sure to follow any and all rules for that medium (in other words, read the forum rules before posting!). It is perfectly acceptable to make modifications to these templates as needed. Furthermore, keep your target audience in mind when posting (e.g. potential artists probably don't care which code libraries the game uses).

GameDev Template

GameDev has some special rules for creating help wanted posts, so you must use the following template for GameDev. The GameDev forums do not use phpBB or other forum code, but instead use pure HTML.

<a href="http://www.allacrost.org">Hero of Allacrost</a> is a single player 2D role-playing game inspired by classic console RPGs. In Hero of Allacrost, the player will explore rich environments, solve challenging dungeon puzzles, and fight strategic battles in an active-time based system. The game is free open-source software and is currently available across several platforms including Windows, OS X, Linux, and FreeBSD. In addition to the game, we also develop and release a custom content editor for the game. Development on the game and editor began in June 2004.

Allacrost is cross-platform and we try to make it available on as many systems as possible. It also includes full internationalization support for languages other than English. This game will be of special interest to those who favor a strong gameplay and story more than realistic 3D graphics and physics, and to those who reminisce about the game play. Additionally, the game is not-for-profit and open-source, licensed under the GPL.
